When Jean Gosset was born on 26 June 1649, in Puy-de-Dôme, France, his father, Jean Jousset, was 31 and his mother, Marie Deniet, was 16. He married Susanne D'Allain in 1699, in Jersey. They were the parents of at least 6 sons. He died on 9 May 1739, in Jersey, at the age of 89.

The Palace of Versailles was originally known as a hunting log and retreat for Louis XII. When Louis XIV took over he moved his family into it. After he died the palace was abandoned. It has since been turned into a museum.
The French monarchy started way before the 1700s, but for the most part the major events of history took place during this time before the French Revolution started. This was known as the Bourbon Dynasty. Louis XIV the Great, Louis XV the Beloved, Louis XVI the Restorer of French Liberty, and Louis XVII all reigned during this time.
French, Walloon, English (at least in part of French Huguenot origin), and Channel Islands (Jersey; of French Huguenot origin): from a pet form of the personal name Gosse, Josse (see Goss ). The medieval English name has probably died out and was later reintroduced to Britain by French Huguenot immigrants. Compare Gossett .
History: This surname is listed in the (US) National Huguenot Society's register of qualified Huguenot ancestors and also in the similar register of the Huguenot Society of America.
