William Mason Tompkins died in Tillamook County Sunday. He was born in Jerseyville, Illinois in 1828. A pioneer of 1852 and since coming to Oregon has resided in the vicinity of Forest Grove until seven years ago when he moved to a farm near Tillamook County. While in Washington County he became known as an owner of fine bred horses and as a general authority on racing qualities in a horse. His widow lives on the farm near Tillamook and the following children survive: Mrs. George Bacon and Mrs. Charles Miller of Forest Grove; Jesse R Tompkins of Gaston; James W. Tompkins and Mrs. N. Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations.
