History: This surname is listed along with its original form Vautrin in the (US) National Huguenot Society's register of qualified Huguenot ancestors. The Huguenot ancestor was Abraham Vautrin, Jr (also Wautrin) from Lorraine, France, who arrived with his wife and children in Philadelphia, PA, in 1733 on the Richard and Elizabeth (in the passenger list his surname is spelled Wootring) and settled in Northampton County, PA. Several years later immigrated to PA also his brother Samuel and cousin John Daniel.
