A United States law to provide financial relief for the purchasers of Public Lands. It permitted the earlier buyers, that couldn't pay completely for the land, to return the land back to the government. This granted them a credit towards the debt they had on land. Congress, also, extended credit to buyer for eight more years. Still while being in economic panic and the shortage of currency made by citizens, the government hoped that with the time extension, the economy would improve.

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. English:
nickname from Middle English mirie, merie, murie ‘merry, pleasant’ + man ‘man’. Compare Merry 1. This surname is established in Ireland (perhaps as an Anglicized form of an unidentified Gaelic name; compare Marmion ) as well as England.
there has probably been some confusion with Marriman, probably an occupational name meaning ‘servant of Mary’, from the female personal name Mary (see Marie ) + Middle English man in the sense ‘servant’, or perhaps a pet form of Mary using the hypocoristic suffix -man. The surname Marriman is now vanishingly rare in Britain and Ireland.
