When Botil Gummesdotter was born on 27 February 1797, in Tving, Blekinge, Sweden, her father, Gumme Andersson, was 42 and her mother, Ingrid Jönsdotter, was 30. She married Christoffer Nilsson on 17 April 1822. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. She died in 1844, in her hometown, at the age of 47.
