When Per Jönsson was born on 23 August 1703, in Skåne, Sweden, his father, Jöns Andersson, was 31 and his mother, Karina, was 26. He married Anna Hendriksdotter on 8 December 1728, in Ullstorp, Ingelstad, Kristianstad, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 7 daughters. He died on 29 April 1780, in Ullstorp, Skåne, Sweden, at the age of 76.
