He married Rhoda Elizabeth Jackson on 2 April 1848, in Des Moines, Iowa, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 3 daughters. He lived in Iowa, United States in 1870 and Denver, Arapahoe, Colorado, United States in 1880. He died in 1900, at the age of 73.
