He married Lillian Eva Gray on 5 December 1925, in Portland, Multnomah, Oregon, United States. He lived in United States in 1949 and Yuba, Yuba, California, United States in 1950. He registered for military service in 1919. He died on 1 March 1960, in Sutter, California, United States, at the age of 70, and was buried in Sierra View Memorial Park, Olivehurst, Yuba, California, United States.

Angel Island served as a quarantine station for those diagnosed with bubonic plague beginning in 1891. A quarantine station was built on the island which was funded by the federal government at the cost of $98,000. The disease spread to port cities around the world, including the San Francisco Bay Area, during the third bubonic plague pandemic, which lasted through 1909.
