When John McCallister was born about 1754, his father, James McCallister Sr, was 31 and his mother, Mary, was 29. He married Mary Ann Logue on 4 January 1779, in Botetourt, Virginia, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 4 daughters. He lived in Monroe, Virginia, United States in 1810 and Union, Monroe, Virginia, United States in 1820. He died in 1824, in Alleghany, Virginia, United States, at the age of 71.
