When Petru Bazan was born on 25 June 1891, in Kitsman, Bezirk Kotzman, Bukowina, Austria, his father, Георгій Бажан, was 30 and his mother, Сафта Андрійчук, was 21. He married Pearl Warbick on 18 November 1916, in Manitoba, Canada. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He immigrated to Canada in 1897 and lived in Selkirk, Manitoba, Canada for about 5 years and Manitoba, Canada in 1916. He died in May 1974, in Whiting, North Township, Lake, Indiana, United States, at the age of 82.

1896 · Plessy vs. Ferguson

1906 · Gary, Indiana, Is Founded

The town of Gary, Indiana, was founded by the United States Steel Corporation in 1906. The Gary Works steel mill was the largest integrated mill in North America. The city of Gary was named after Elbert Henry Gary who was the founding chairman of the United States Steel Corporation and American lawyer and county judge. Gary partnered with J.P. Morgan, Andrew Carnegie, and Charles M. Schwab to found the United States Steel Corporation.
