Alternatively it may be an indirect occupational name for a smith or someone who worked with fire.3 Chinese 郎: from the name of a place called Lang City in the state of Lu, founded during the Spring and Autumn period ( 722–481 bc ) by a grandson of the ruler. His descendants lived there and adopted Lang as their surname.
