Name Meaning

English (Devon and Cornwall): apparently from a lost or as yet unidentified place, probably in Cornwall. There is a Gliddon in Hambledon (Hampshire), named from Old English gleoda ‘kite’ + dūn ‘hill’, but this does not appear to be the source of the surname.
