He immigrated to Vermont, United States in 1895 and lived in Stormont Dundas and Glengarry, Ontario, Canada for about 10 years. He died on 25 May 1918, in Williamsburgh Township, Stormont Dundas and Glengarry, Ontario, Canada, at the age of 80, and was buried in Aultsville, Osnabruck Township, Stormont, Canada West, British North America.

St. Albans Raid took place on October 19, 1864. It was a Confederate raid from Canada into Union territory. Confederate soldiers that were in Canada raided the town of St. Albans killed one person and robbed three banks.
