When gamli Snorri Thorkelsson was born in 1712, in Iceland, his father, Thorkell Brandsson, was 28 and his mother, Margret Snorradottir, was 28. He married Herdis Jonsdottir in 1757, in Borg, Mýrasýsla, Western, Iceland. They were the parents of at least 6 sons. He died in 1807, at the age of 95.
