He married Idde Andersdatter on 19 June 1747, in Onsøy Kirke, Onsøy, Østfold, Norway. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. He died in November 1794, in his hometown, at the age of 74, and was buried in Onsøy Kirke, Onsøy, Østfold, Norway.

Law of 1736 legally established Confirmation in the Lutheran Church which led to organized education for all children. These became important records which the Pastor kept.
