When Margaretha Münch was born on 27 October 1826, in Basel, Basel-Stadt, Switzerland, her father, Heinrich Münch, was 32 and her mother, Maria Stöcklin, was 33. She married Heinrich Schärer on 7 April 1856, in Riesbach, Zürich, Zürich, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 3 daughters. She died on 8 January 1903, in Horgen, Zürich, Switzerland, at the age of 76.
