When Olof Ericsson Markgang was born on 24 May 1754, in Valö, Stockholm, Sweden, his father, Eric Olsson Gronberg, was 21 and his mother, Karen Anderson, was 28. He married Maria Ersson on 3 January 1779, in Sweden. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He died on 1 June 1790, at the age of 36.
