When James Wilson Lasley was born on 8 June 1816, in Stokes, North Carolina, United States, his father, Joseph A Lasley, was 37 and his mother, Nancy Gentry, was 17. He married Dicey Anna Stogsdill on 4 July 1842, in Pulaski, Kentucky, United States. They were the parents of at least 9 sons and 2 daughters. He lived in Tennessee Magisterial District, Caldwell, Kentucky, United States in 1870 and Capps Creek Township, Barry, Missouri, United States for about 20 years. He died on 6 April 1904, in Newton, Missouri, United States, at the age of 87, and was buried in New Site Cemetery, Monett Township, Barry, Missouri, United States.
