When Hans Jakob Daetwyler was born in 1744, in Wittwil, Staffelbach, Aargau, Switzerland, his father, Melchior Daetwyler, was 26 and his mother, Barbara Ryniker, was 20. He married Anna Maria Fehlmann on 14 June 1766. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 3 daughters. He died on 26 November 1820, at the age of 76.
