When Laioa or Kumukamalii was born about 1822, in Waimea, Kaua'i, Kingdom of Hawaii, his father, Palama Naoi Kanaieakapulehu Kamalenui, was 24 and his mother, Opuahua Kauakahi, was 45. He married Pau'ula Kaleiwahinehelelani Kaukua on 25 June 1849, in Hanapēpē, Kaua'i, Hawaii, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 17 May 1872, in Hanapëpë, Kaua'i, Kingdom of Hawaii, at the age of 51.

1821 · Financial Relief for Public Land

A United States law to provide financial relief for the purchasers of Public Lands. It permitted the earlier buyers, that couldn't pay completely for the land, to return the land back to the government. This granted them a credit towards the debt they had on land. Congress, also, extended credit to buyer for eight more years. Still while being in economic panic and the shortage of currency made by citizens, the government hoped that with the time extension, the economy would improve.

1825 · The Crimes Act

The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.

1836 · Remember the Alamo

Being a monumental event in the Texas Revolution, The Battle of the Alamo was a thirteen-day battle at the Alamo Mission near San Antonio. In the early morning of the final battle, the Mexican Army advanced on the Alamo. Quickly being overrun, the Texian Soldiers quickly withdrew inside the building. The battle has often been overshadowed by events from the Mexican–American War, But the Alamo gradually became known as a national battle site and later named an official Texas State Shrine.
