He married Jo Anna Turner on 7 November 1811, in Leeds, Androscoggin, Maine, United States. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 6 daughters. He lived in Township of Mercer, Mercer, Illinois, United States in 1850 and Illinois, United States in 1870. He died on 13 March 1879, in Township of Suez, Mercer, Illinois, United States, at the age of 87, and was buried in Norwood Cemetery, Mercer, Illinois, United States.

The Eleventh Amendment restricts the ability of any people to start a lawsuit against the states in federal court.

1804 · Whitehead Light

In 1804, President Thomas Jefferson authorized the creation of a light station on Whitehead Island. The light house went into service by 1807. It is the third-oldest light house in Maine. Whitehead Light still exists as the private property of Pine Island Camp, a non-profit organization.
