He married Mary Polly Lively on 3 April 1842, in Chester, Randolph, Illinois, United States. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 1 daughter. He lived in Saint Clair Township, St. Clair, Illinois, United States in 1870 and St. Clair, Illinois, United States in 1880. He died on 11 May 1899, in Red Bud, Randolph, Illinois, United States, at the age of 81, and was buried in Bowerman Cemetery, Steeleville, Randolph, Illinois, United States.
