He died on 25 June 1880, in Virginia, Cass, Illinois, United States, at the age of 72, and was buried in Virginia, Cass, Illinois, United States.

War of 1812. U.S. declares war on Britain over British interference with American maritime shipping and westward expansion.

1812 · Kentucky Bend Created

During the New Madrid earthquakes of 1811-1812, the Kentucky Bend or New Madrid Bend was created. It is located in the southwestern corner of Kentucky on the banks of the Mississippi River.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.

Name Meaning

Americanized form of Dutch Couwenhoven, a habitational name from the farmhouse Couwenhoven in Hoogland, Utrecht.

History: Wolfert Gerritsz. (van Couwenhoven), settled in 1624–25 as one of the first immigrants from Amersfoort to New-Netherland. By the time the descendants of original Dutch settlers on Long Island had reached western PA, the name Couwenhoven had evolved into Conover.
