Johannes DIENER was born on 3 February 1695, in Fischenthal, Zürich, Switzerland as the son of Hans Heinrich Diener and Doroth Koigi. He married Cathri Schoch on 17 June 1721. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 9 daughters. He died on 3 May 1762, in Boden, Zürich, Switzerland, at the age of 67.
