When Jane Norton was born about 1810, in Ontario, Canada, her father, Eleazer Norton, was 22 and her mother, Anna Brock, was 22. She married George Shier on 26 December 1836, in Brock, Durham, Ontario, Canada. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 2 daughters. She died in 1878, at the age of 69.

On July 1, 1867, the province of Ontario was founded. It is the second largest province in Canada. A third of the population of Canada live here. Before it was Ontario it was called Upper Canada and had a Governor.
