When Johannes Ackermann was born on 21 October 1757, in Riniken, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Ulrick Ackerman, was 29 and his mother, Elisabeth Schaffner, was 27. He married Verena Suter in 1786. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 14 March 1811, at the age of 53.
