When Nancy Jane Shay was born on 14 September 1848, in Ohio, United States, her father, Isaac Shay, was 26 and her mother, Mary Hawkins, was 26. She married Riley William Comer on 14 August 1864, in Creston, Union, Iowa, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. She lived in Adams Township, Coshocton, Ohio, United States in 1850 and Sullivan, Missouri, United States in 1860. She died on 24 March 1880, in Harrison, Missouri, United States, at the age of 31.
