When Bartholome Ruesch was born on 31 July 1735, in Sankt Margrethen, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, his father, Bartholeme Ruesch, was 24 and his mother, Christine Ursula Brassel, was 25. He married Anna Kaestli in 1764. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 2 April 1789, at the age of 53.
