Lewis Jamison Sr. was born in 1782, in New Castle, Delaware, United States as the son of Alexander Jamison and Jane Jamison. He married Mary Clark on 21 April 1807, in Delaware, Iowa, United States. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 1 daughter. He died in May 1818, in his hometown, at the age of 36.

Name Meaning

English and Scottish: from Middle English and Scots Jami(e)son, Jameson, Jem(i)son ‘son of James’ (see James ). Jameson and Jamison are mainly found in northern England, especially in Northumberland and Durham, while in Scotland the more usual form is Jamieson , but all three versions occur on either side of the border.

Scottish: variant of McCamish .
