When William James Irwin was born on 4 October 1898, in Danville, Les Sources, Quebec, Canada, his father, Israel Jared Irwin, was 32 and his mother, Edith Estella Andrews, was 31. He married Edith Luella Lodge on 19 March 1919, in Compton, Quebec, Canada. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter. He died in 1985, at the age of 87.
