When Marcos Artieda Lacunza was christened on 21 April 1701, in Etxarri Aranatz, Nafarroa, Spain, his father, Bartolome Artieda, was 32 and his mother, Marina de Lacunza Peruzurguin, was 26. He married Lucía Ulayar de Miguel de Echarri on 25 May 1728, in Etxarri Aranatz, Nafarroa, Spain. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 4 daughters. He died on 21 May 1760, in his hometown, at the age of 59.

Name Meaning
From the Latin name Marcus , borne by the Evangelist, author of the second gospel in the New Testament, and by several other early and medieval saints. In Arthurian legend, King Mark is the aged ruler of Cornwall to whom Isolde is brought as a bride by Tristan; his name was presumably of Celtic origin, perhaps derived from the element march ‘horse’. This was not a particularly common name in the Middle Ages but was in more frequent use by the end of the 16th century.
