When Hans Kanrad Kopp was born on 23 January 1729, in Lütisburg, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland, his father, Abraham Koop, was 43 and his mother, Katarina Lenggenbager, was 28. He married Anna Rimensberger on 4 February 1762. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 1 daughter. He died on 12 February 1798, in his hometown, at the age of 69.
