When Elisabeth Reber was born on 26 September 1837, in Bantigen, Bolligen, Bern, Switzerland, her father, Christian Reber, was 23 and her mother, Elisabetha Moser, was 21. She married Friedrich Kiener on 14 January 1859, in Kirchberg, Bern, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 2 daughters. She died on 6 April 1911, at the age of 73.
