He married Kerstin Nilsdotter on 27 December 1817, in Näskott, Jämtland, Sweden. They were the parents of at least 2 sons and 5 daughters. He died on 23 December 1846, in Faxälven, Näskott, Jämtland, Sweden, at the age of 53, and was buried in Krokom, Jämtland, Sweden.
