When Jacob Rohner was born on 23 February 1752, in Walzenhausen, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Switzerland, his father, Johannes Rohner, was 42 and his mother, Barbara Sturzenegger, was 26. He married Elisabeth Keller on 4 April 1773, in Rebstein, Sankt Gallen, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 9 daughters. He died on 19 April 1818, at the age of 66.
