When Ólafur Eiríksson was born on 17 October 1790, in Reynir, Vestur-Skaftafellssýsla, Southern, Iceland, his father, Eiríkur Ólafsson, was 22 and his mother, Ingibjörg Pétursdóttir, was 41. He married Katrin Brandsdottir on 6 November 1822. He died on 7 October 1855, in Rangárvallasýsla, Southern, Iceland, at the age of 64, and was buried in Holt, Rangárvallasýsla, Southern, Iceland.
