    1812 · Monumental Church Built

    The Monumental Church was built between 1812-1814 on the sight where the Richmond Theatre fire had taken place. It is a monument to those that died in the fire.

    1825 · The Crimes Act

    The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.

    History: James Bagby, a Scot, arrived in Jamestown, VA, c. 1628. One of his descendants, Arthur Pendleton Bagby (1794–1858), was governor of Alabama (1837–1841) and a US senator (1841–48).
