When Johannes Spengler was born on 27 January 1813, in Schönenbaumgarten, Thurgau, Switzerland, his father, Hans Conrad Spengler, was 38 and his mother, Anna Barbara Mast, was 37. He married Susanna Spengler on 20 February 1849, in Altnau, Thurgau, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 1 son and 1 daughter. He died on 18 August 1865, at the age of 52, and was buried in Illighausen, Thurgau, Switzerland.
