When Toha Nye Winiata was born in 1891, in New Zealand, his father, Winiata Pataka, was 44 and his mother, Ema Te Hapai "Te Hapai Hinematiora Emma" Nicholson, was 32. He married Te Awe about 1881, in New Zealand. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He died in 1964, in his hometown, at the age of 73.
