When William R. Cody was born on 1 December 1825, in Vernon, Vernon, Oneida, New York, United States, his father, Rhodolphus Cody, was 35 and his mother, Ann Barber, was 34. He married Martha Hobson on 10 October 1854. He lived in Marlborough, Middlesex, Massachusetts, United States in 1870 and Morris, Grundy, Illinois, United States for about 20 years. He died in 1908, at the age of 83, and was buried in Morris, Grundy, Illinois, United States.
