When Claus Clausen was born in 1810, in Jostedal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway, his father, Claus Olsen, was 46 and his mother, Kari Andersdotter, was 44. He married Cari Knudsdr on 11 July 1840, in Jostedal, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway. He died on 26 April 1899, at the age of 89.
