When Arbogast Abplanalp was born on 18 May 1661, in Wiler, Sigriswil, Bern, Switzerland, his father, Benedikt Abplanalp, was 27 and his mother, Margarethe Huggler, was 23. He married Elsbeth Fischer on 18 May 1691, in Brienz, Bern, Switzerland. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 2 daughters. He died on 20 May 1737, in his hometown, at the age of 76.
