Jens Pedersen Krognæs was born in 1726, in Kråkenes, Sogn og Fjordane, Norway as the son of Peder Jensen. He married Benedicte Madsdatter about 1739, in Lødingen, Lødingen, Nordland, Norway. They were the parents of at least 7 sons and 1 daughter. He died in 1781, in Sandtorg, Harstad, Troms, Norway, at the age of 55.
