When Sarah "Sally" Persen was born in 1780, in Ulster, New York, United States, her father, Johannes Persen, was 28 and her mother, Catlyntje Van Vreedenburg, was 27. She married John Woodruff Clark on 2 February 1802. They were the parents of at least 5 sons and 1 daughter. She died on 18 April 1813, in Buffalo, Erie, New York, United States, at the age of 33.

Serving the newly created United States of America as the first constitution, the Articles of Confederation were an agreement among the 13 original states preserving the independence and sovereignty of the states.
