When Robert Gray Guilford was born on 2 April 1808, in Ashfield, Franklin, Massachusetts, United States, his father, Samuel Guilford Jr., was 25 and his mother, Sarah Gray, was 17. He married Phoebe Post in 1840, in Cuba, Cuba, Allegany, New York, United States. They were the parents of at least 6 sons and 2 daughters. He lived in New Hudson, Allegany, New York, United States for about 5 years and Dover Township, Fulton, Ohio, United States in 1860. He registered for military service in 1963. He died on 13 May 1863, in Franklin, Tennessee, United States, at the age of 55, and was buried in Stones River National Cemetery, Murfreesboro, Rutherford, Tennessee, United States.

1817

In 1817, Murfreesboro was recognized as an official city by the State Legislature and, in 1818, was named the capital of Tennessee because of its central location. However, Nashville regained the title as the state capital in 1826.

1825 · The Crimes Act

The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.
