Ebenezer Cleaveland was born on 12 October 1754, in Gloucester, Essex, Massachusetts, United States, his father, Reverend Ebenezer Cleveland, was 28 and his mother, Abigail Stevens, was 27. He married Lois Pool on 8 May 1777. He registered for military service in 1775. He died on 26 November 1822, in his hometown, at the age of 68.
