When Otis Walkup was born on 19 March 1797, in Colrain, Hampshire, Massachusetts, United States, his father, George Walkup, was 34 and his mother, Lucy Jackson, was 25. He married Tabitha Pike on 15 November 1819, in Charlemont, Franklin, Massachusetts, United States. They were the parents of at least 4 sons and 5 daughters. He lived in Cicero, Onondaga, New York, United States in 1850. He died on 10 June 1853, in Brewerton, Cicero, Onondaga, New York, United States, at the age of 56, and was buried in Brewerton, Cicero, Onondaga, New York, United States.

1800 · Movement to Washington D.C.

While the growth of the new nation was exponential, the United States didn’t have permanent location to house the Government. The First capital was temporary in New York City but by the second term of George Washington the Capital moved to Philadelphia for the following 10 years. Ultimately during the Presidency of John Adams, the Capital found a permanent home in the District of Columbia.
