When Caroline Taft was born on 26 June 1821, in Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States, her father, Hanson Taft, was 30 and her mother, Catharine Taylor, was 29. She died on 25 September 1848, in her hometown, at the age of 27, and was buried in Old Cemetery, Mendon, Worcester, Massachusetts, United States.

1825 · The Crimes Act

The Crimes Act was made to provide a clearer punishment of certain crimes against the United States. Part of it includes: Changing the maximum sentence of imprisonment to be increased from seven to ten years and changing the maximum fine from $5,000 to $10,000.

1830 · The Second Great Awakening

Being a second spiritual and religious awakening, like the First Great Awakening, many Churches began to spring up from other denominations. Many people began to rapidly join the Baptist and Methodist congregations. Many converts to these religions believed that the Awakening was the precursor of a new millennial age.

1830 · The Oregon Trail

Many people started their 2,170-mile West trek to settle the land found by Louis and Clark. They used large-wheeled wagons to pack most of their belongings and were guided by trails that were made by the previous trappers and traders who walked the area. Over time the trail needed annual improvements to make the trip faster and safer. Most of Interstate 80 and 84 cover most of the ground that was the original trail.

History: Robert Taft (born c. 1640), lived in Braintree, MA, and subsequently Mendon, MA. — Alphonso Taft (1810–91), jurist and politician born in Townshend, VT, was the father of William Howard Taft (1857–1930), 27th president of the US and chief justice of the US Supreme Court.
