When Erik Mattsson was born on 13 September 1791, in Rödön, Jämtland, Sweden, his father, Mathias Jonsson, was 30 and his mother, Ingeborg Ersdr, was 32. He married Kerstin Mansdotter on 8 October 1820. They were the parents of at least 1 daughter. He died on 9 September 1869, at the age of 77.
