When Tevita Fohe was born about 1939, in Puke, Tongatapu, Tonga, his father, Lopeti Kavapalu, was 41 and his mother, Manu Kailea Fevanga, was 40. He died in 2004, in Auckland, New Zealand, at the age of 66.

    1943 · Eleanor Roosevelt Visits During War

    Anna Eleanor Roosevelt visited New Zealand during the calmer years of World War II in the Pacific. It was the first time that a first lady of the United States had visited the country alone without their husband. 

    1957 · Scott Base

    The New Zealand Antarctic research facility at Pram Point was given the name Scott Base in honor of Captain Robert Falcon Scott. It was set up to support field research and has become a center of research into earth sciences.
